The General tab holds three site-wide defaults: the view the admin calendar opens on, how long a new event lasts, and the currency prices are shown in.
This page also shows how to change the web address of your events, which is set on a WordPress screen.
Open the General tab
- Go to HappenBoard → Settings.
- Click General in the sidebar. It is the first section, so it opens by default.
- Change what you need, then click Save.
Only administrators see Settings by default (see roles and permissions). If you open another section before saving, HappenBoard asks first: Discard drops your changes, Cancel keeps you on the tab.
The three settings

The default duration applies in the block editor and in the quick form of the Events and Calendar screens. All-day events are not affected. You can still change the end of any event before saving it.
Default calendar view only concerns the admin. What your visitors see first is set on the Calendar block, with its own Default view setting.
The view and the duration are also step 1 of the setup wizard. Whatever you choose there appears on this tab.
Choose the currency before you set prices
Each currency is shown with its own number of decimals. Most have two (EUR, USD, GBP). JPY and the other zero-decimal currencies have none, and KWD and the other dinars have three.
Prices are stored in the currency’s smallest unit, and changing the currency converts nothing. A price of 10.00 EUR becomes 1,000 JPY if you switch to yen. Set the currency once, before you give a price to your booking types. Bookings already made keep the currency they were made in.
HappenBoard Pro charges online payments in the Currency of its Stripe tab. Use the same code in both places: if the two currencies count decimals differently, Pro does not take booking payments online and bookings are paid on site. See Setting up Stripe.
Change the web address of your events
Events are published at /events/event-name/, the list of all events at /events/, and the dates of a repeating event at /events/event-name/all-dates/. The first part, events, is called the event base.
- Go to Settings → Permalinks (a WordPress screen).
- In the Optional section, type the new base in Event base, for example
agendaorwhats-on/concerts. Leave it empty to keepevents. - Click Save Changes.
Every event moves at once. The old addresses of your events, their All dates pages and the events list redirect to the new ones, for the last five bases you used. Update your menus anyway, so visitors skip the redirect.
Under the field, HappenBoard warns you when something else uses the same address: a published page with that slug, another type of content, or The Events Calendar during a migration. Tools → Site Health runs the same check.
A page placed under the base, such as /events/locations/ (a child of a page called Events), still opens as long as no event has the same slug.
Some plugins rebuild WordPress’s address rules without HappenBoard’s. HappenBoard checks for this when the admin is used, at most once an hour, and repairs them. Event pages that suddenly show “not found” come back without you saving the permalinks again.
