What is HappenBoard?

HappenBoard is a WordPress plugin for events and appointments. You publish events the way you publish posts, show them on your pages with blocks, and let visitors sign up or book a time.

The plugin is free. A paid add-on, HappenBoard Pro, adds ticket sales and other extras.

What you can do with the free plugin

  • Publish events with a date, a time, a venue and an organizer. An event can take place in person, online or both.
  • Repeat an event, such as a weekly class or a monthly meetup, with a repeat rule. HappenBoard creates every date for you.
  • Let people sign up for free with an RSVP form, with a seat limit, a confirmation email and a reminder before the event.
  • Take appointment bookings: describe your services, set your opening hours, and let clients pick a free time. They can move or cancel it from their email.
  • Show your events with 21 blocks: a calendar, lists, grids, a countdown, Add to Calendar buttons and more. They work with any theme.
  • Share an iCal feed so people can follow your events in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
  • Help Google show your events in its results, with Event structured data added to every event page.
  • Bring your events across from The Events Calendar, Events Manager, Sugar Calendar, EventKoi, Amelia or an .ics file.

Your events, attendees and bookings stay in your own WordPress database. HappenBoard needs no account. It contacts an outside service, such as weather or maps, only after you turn that feature on.

What Pro adds

HappenBoard Pro is a second plugin that you install next to the free one. The free features keep working the same way. Pro adds:

  • Paid tickets, sold through Stripe or WooCommerce, with an orders screen and refunds.
  • Event day tools: PDF tickets, QR code check-in and name badges.
  • Online payment for appointments, in full or as a deposit.
  • Changes to one date of a series: skip it, move it or restore it.
  • Custom fields, and 10 more blocks, such as a ticket picker, a filter bar and a map of your events.
  • Two-way sync with Google Calendar and Outlook, webhooks, and Slack and WhatsApp notifications.

Where to start

  1. Check the requirements and install HappenBoard.
  2. Click HappenBoard in your WordPress menu. The setup wizard opens and sets your defaults in three short steps.
  3. Create your first event.
  4. Add the Calendar block to a page so visitors can see your events.
