The Events screen

HappenBoard → Events is the complete list of your events. This guide covers the status views, the columns you can turn on, and everything you can do to a row.

Three tabs

The Events screen holds three tabs: All events, Categories and Tags. Opening Events with no tab chosen lands you on the event list. The other two are covered in the guide to categories, tags and colors.

Filtering by status

Above the list is a row of status views:

  • All events: everything except trashed events.
  • Published
  • Scheduled: events whose publish date is in the future.
  • Drafts
  • Pending: submitted for review.
  • Private
  • Trash

Trash is its own view rather than a filter, because trashed events are excluded from every other view. Switching view always returns you to page one.

The date range filter

Next to the status views is a Date range control with a From and a To field. Fill in either or both, and Clear removes it. It filters on the event start, so it is the quickest way to pull up one season or one month, as explained in the guide to dates and times.

Layouts, search and paging

The view options control at the top of the list offers three layouts: List (the default, a thumbnail with the title and the key details), Table for dense scanning, and Grid for a visual gallery. List and grid use the event’s featured image, falling back to a neutral tile when there is none.

There is a search box, and the list shows 20 events per page. Your layout, columns, sort and page size are saved against your own user account, so they follow you and do not affect anyone else.

The columns

Five columns are shown by default: Start, Venue, Category, Capacity and Status. Four more are one click away in the view options: ID, End, Recurring and the image.

  • ID: click the number to copy it to your clipboard. This is the value the CSV importer expects in its event_id column, so it is worth turning on before a CSV import or export.
  • Category: each category shows as a colored dot plus its name, using the color set on the category.
  • Capacity: seats taken against the cap, with a small fill bar. Uncapped events show the count against an infinity sign. Capacity and available seats explains what those numbers count.
  • Recurring: Yes for an event built from a repeat rule.

You can sort by Title, ID, Start and End. The other columns are display only. The filter control adds two filters: Category and Recurring. Status is deliberately absent from it, because the views above already drive status and two competing controls would be confusing.

Creating an event

New event in the header opens a quick create modal. The small arrow beside it offers New event in block editor, which takes you straight to the full editor when you want to start with rich content.

Row actions

  • Edit: opens the quick edit modal. Clicking an event title does the same thing.
  • Edit in full editor: opens the event in the block editor.
  • View event page: an icon shown only on published events, opening the public page in a new tab.
  • Duplicate: copies the event as a draft.
  • Move to Trash.
  • Restore: only in the Trash view. It brings the event back as a draft, not as published.
  • Delete permanently: only in the Trash view. It asks you to confirm, and warns that it also removes all of the event’s occurrences.

Duplicate, Move to Trash, Restore and Delete permanently all work on a selection, so you can tick several rows and act on them at once. Edit and View event page apply to a single event.
