HappenBoard opens as a full-screen app inside your WordPress admin. A dark menu on the left lists its screens, and the screen you pick opens on the right.
While you are in HappenBoard, the WordPress toolbar, the WordPress menu and admin notices are hidden.
Go back to WordPress
- Click the WordPress logo at the top left to return to the WordPress dashboard.
- Click your site name, next to the logo, to view your site.
The screens
- Dashboard: an overview with widgets and a setup checklist. See the dashboard and its widgets.
- Calendar: your events by month, week, day or as an agenda. Click a day to add an event on it. See the admin Calendar screen.
- Events: the list of all your events, with search, filters and bulk actions. See the Events screen.
- Attendees: everyone who signed up, for all your events. See managing attendees.
- Venues: the places where your events happen, reused from one event to the next.
- Organizers: the people or groups behind your events.
- Bookings: the appointments your clients booked. See appointment booking.
- Integrations: outside services such as spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile, Akismet), maps and weather.
- Settings: everything else, from default values to emails and maintenance tools.
At the bottom of the menu, Docs opens this documentation and Support opens the support forum on WordPress.org, each in a new tab.
Open a sub-menu
Events, Bookings and Settings contain several pages. Click one of them: its screen opens and the menu slides to show its pages.
- Events: All events, Categories and Tags.
- Bookings: Bookings, Booking types and Availability.
- Settings: General, Email, Migration, Tools, AI agents and Health.
To get back to the main menu, click the arrow next to the sub-menu title. The screen you are on stays open.
What HappenBoard Pro adds
With HappenBoard Pro active, you also get:
- An Orders screen, after Organizers.
- Resources, inside the Bookings sub-menu.
- A Check-in page under Attendees, which then opens as a sub-menu too.
- More pages under Settings: Custom fields, AI assistant, Stripe, Ticket design, Submissions and Licence.
- More cards on Integrations, such as Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Slack and WhatsApp.

Find anything with the command palette
The command palette is a search box that takes you anywhere in HappenBoard. Press ⌘K on a Mac, or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux, from any HappenBoard screen. You can also click Search… at the bottom of the menu.
Type a few letters, choose a result with the arrow keys and press Enter. Press Escape to close it. The palette finds:
- New event, New venue and New organizer, which open the matching form.
- Every screen, including the pages inside a sub-menu.
- Every Settings page, listed as Settings: General, Settings: Email and so on, for users who can open Settings.
- Your events by title, once you type 2 letters. Up to 6 events show, each with its date.
Use HappenBoard on a phone
On a screen up to 782 pixels wide, such as a phone, a small tablet or a zoomed-in window, the menu folds into a bar at the top. Tap Menu to open it, then tap a screen. To close it without choosing, tap beside it or press Escape.
Who sees what
The menu only shows the screens a user is allowed to use. Administrators see everything. Editors see every screen except Integrations and Settings, and they cannot export the attendee list. Roles and permissions explains how to change this.
If something goes wrong
- A screen shows Something went wrong: click Reload the page. The rest of the menu keeps working.
- You miss a WordPress notice, such as an update message: notices are hidden inside HappenBoard. Click the WordPress logo to see them on the WordPress dashboard.
