Every notification email HappenBoard sends is wrapped in the same shell: a colored header band, the message, and a footer. Three settings control that shell, and a live preview shows the result before you save.
Where the settings are
Go to HappenBoard → Settings → Email and scroll to the Email branding card. What you set there applies to every notification email, so you configure the look once rather than per template.
Header accent color
A color picker, set to a WordPress blue by default. It fills the band across the top of the email, behind your logo or your site name.
The value has to be a valid hex color. If a value cannot be read as one, the previous color is kept rather than the email losing its header.
Logo URL
An absolute URL to a PNG or JPG. The image is placed in the header band and rendered at up to 48 pixels tall, so supply something that reads well at that height. A wide horizontal logo works better than a tall one.
Leave the field blank and the header shows your site name instead, linked to your home page. The field comes with a media picker, so you can select a file already in your media library instead of pasting an address.
Footer text
The small print at the bottom of the email. Plain text works, and so does light HTML: links, bold and italic. Anything riskier is stripped out when you save.
Leave it blank and the footer falls back to your site name followed by your site address. Common uses for the field are a postal address, an unsubscribe explanation, or a line pointing people at your contact page.
The preview
Below the branding card, the Email preview card renders a real email in an isolated frame. The Template selector at its top right switches between three layouts:
- Confirmation, the message sent when someone signs up.
- Reminder, the message sent before the event.
- Cancellation, the layout used when a cancellation message is sent.
The subject line is printed above the frame so you can judge how it reads in an inbox list. The preview picks up your unsaved edits after a short pause, and it runs those values through exactly the same cleaning that saving would, so what you see is what would actually go out.
Previewing does not send anything. To check a real delivery, sign yourself up through an RSVP form on a test event.
What the shell looks like
The email is a 600 pixel card centered on a light background, built out of tables so that older desktop clients lay it out correctly. The header band carries your accent color, the message sits on white, and the footer is separated by a thin rule in smaller grey type. The header, the message and the footer are the parts you influence; the message text itself is fixed.
For the emails these settings apply to, and when each is sent, see automatic emails. If you sell tickets with Pro, the PDF ticket has its own separate design settings, described in PDF e-tickets and ticket design.
Saving
The Save button at the bottom of the screen commits the whole Email tab at once, branding included. Nothing is stored until you press it, so you can experiment against the preview freely and walk away without consequences.
