Choose how venue maps look: OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, or your own embed.
- OpenStreetMap works with no API key at all
- Google Maps if you already have a key
- Or a custom iframe URL for anything else
What you can do with it
- Show a map of the venue on each event page, as part of the Event Venue block.
- Use OpenStreetMap with no account and no key, in one of four layers: Standard, CyclOSM, Transport or Humanitarian.
- Switch to Google Maps with your own API key.
- Use another map service, such as MapTiler, Stadia or Carto, through a custom iframe address.
- Set the provider for the whole site, and change it on one block if you need to.
- Choose the map height and zoom on each block.

How to set it up
- Give your venues a latitude and a longitude, in the venue’s settings.
- Open your single event template, select the Event Venue block and switch on Show map.
- To change the provider, go to HappenBoard → Integrations and click Configure on the Maps card.
- Choose the Default map provider, add your key or custom address if needed, and click Save changes.
The maps guide explains each provider and what it receives about your visitors.
What you need
- Venues with coordinates. HappenBoard does not look up addresses: you type the latitude and longitude.
- HappenBoard, the free plugin.
- For Google Maps, a Google Cloud API key with the Maps Embed API enabled.
Free and Pro
Venue maps and the three providers are in the free plugin.
HappenBoard Pro adds Map Design Studio, which restyles these maps, and a clustered map that shows all your events at once.
Good to know
- No map is loaded from any service until you switch on Show map in a block.
- The map appears only when the venue has coordinates. A virtual event never shows one.
- Without a saved Google key or custom address, blocks fall back to OpenStreetMap instead of an empty frame.
- Restrict your Google key to the Maps Embed API and your domain, since it appears in your pages.
- Each provider receives the visitor’s IP address when the map loads. Mention it in your privacy policy.
